Bambino is so much more than just a kindergarten — we become family.
Johan and Helena Bredenhand, founders of Bambino, had a dream and opened the kindergarten in 1975 with 20 children. Today, the dream lives on with their daughter Tania at the helm.
Bambino is a Christian based educational institute that provides a safe, healthy, civil and stimulating learning environment for all learners. We take your child in as our own and help them to develop body, soul, and spirit to their full potential.

We offer the following incredible standard facilities:
- Full access control to keep your children safe until you come to pick them up in person.
- A modern kitchen where delicious meals and cold drinks are prepared fresh daily as outlined by the Department of Health.
- Bathrooms with low sinks and low toilets so that the children can always be monitored.
- A wonderful TV room where the children can watch television, early mornings before 07:15 and at 17:00.
- A large fenced-off play area where all the children can play safely on age-appropriate equipment, under the watchful eyes of our skilled teachers and 'tannies'. Sand is replaced regularly as per Department of Health regulations.

Grade RGraad R
Grade R: Foundation for Formal Schooling
Our 5- to 6-year-old learners form part of Grade R, the foundation year of formal education. From 2026, Grade R became compulsory in South Africa. Our programme ensures learners are fully prepared for Grade 1 by developing essential academic skills, confidence, and school readiness.
Graad R: Grondslag vir Formele Skoolopleiding
Ons 5- tot 6-jarige leerders vorm deel van Graad R, die grondslagjaar van formele onderwys. Vanaf 2026 het Graad R verpligtend geword in Suid-Afrika. Ons program verseker dat leerders ten volle voorberei is vir Graad 1.

- Bambino opens at 06:30 and closes promptly at 17:30. A fine will be charged if parents arrive late — R50 per 15 minutes or part thereof.
- Please keep the security gate closed at all times. Press the bell for access. There are cameras on the premises, in classrooms and on the playground.
- Children go to the TV room from 06:30 to 07:15 to wait for their teacher. After that they will be taken to their classes. Bags go directly to class.
- Contact us if you cannot collect your child yourself. You must give us the collector's ID number by phone, and they must bring their ID document.
- Bambino open om 06:30 en sluit stiptelik om 17:30. 'n Boete sal gehef word as ouers laat aankom — R50 per 15 minute of gedeelte daarvan.

Cooked porridge (Maize porridge, Oatmeal) is served Mon–Thu from 07:45–08:00. On Fridays, cereal flakes are served.

At 10:00: rooibos tea and biscuits. At 14:00: own healthy snack. Fridays are tuck shop day!
Lunch
Prepared daily according to Department of Health guidelines. Meals include: Macaroni & Minced Meat, Baked Rice Dish, Fishcakes with Mash, Meatballs, Curry and Rice, Macaroni and Cheese, Shepherd's Pie, Cabbage stew, Tomato stew, Soup, Pumpkin fritters.

Fees are payable monthly in advance on the 1st of each month, but no later than the 7th. Monthly fees are increased every year in June. Fees are payable even if the child is on holiday.

- Send an extra set of clothes (seasonal) in a small clearly marked bag.
- Potty training children must send enough extra underwear — clearly marked.
- Nappy wearers: minimum 6 nappies, plus powder, bum cream and wetwipes — all clearly marked.
- No wheel suitcases are allowed.
- In winter you may send a blanket — clearly marked.
- Stationery is purchased by the school. An invoice will be issued at the beginning of the year.
- We bear no responsibility if unmarked clothes go missing.

General InformationAlgemene Inligting
Discipline
Discipline remains the primary task of parents. Each preschooler receives a Discipline record card. Parents are notified about our approach to discipline.
Communication
Daily WhatsApp feedback in groups about activities and themes. We also communicate by email. Please arrange an appointment to meet the Teacher or Principal.
Reports
Continuous assessment is done. Children with less than 75% attendance do not receive a report.
Parent Evenings
Two parent meetings per year. We follow an open-door policy — feel free to discuss any matters.
Sickness
Children with infectious illness must stay home until the infectious period is over.
Birthdays
Birthdays are a big deal at Bambino! Parents can arrange a party and are welcome to attend. We request parties are held after 14:00.
Toys
No toys may come to school — they will be confiscated and not returned. Please don't take school toys home.
Medication
All medication must be accompanied by a letter containing the following: the child's full name, the name of the medication, the prescribed dosage, the time(s) it must be administered, and the parent or guardian's signature authorising administration.
Hair Contamination
Hair is checked every Monday. If contamination is found you will be notified immediately to collect your child. They may return once treated.
Dissipline
Dissipline bly die primêre taak van ouers. Elke leerder kry 'n Dissipline-rekordkaart. Ouers word in kennis gestel oor ons benadering tot dissipline.
Kommunikasie
Daaglikse WhatsApp-terugvoer in groepe oor aktiwiteite en temas. Ons kommunikeer ook per e-pos. Reël asseblief 'n afspraak om die Onderwyser of Hoof te ontmoet.
Verslae
Deurlopende assessering word gedoen. Kinders met minder as 75% bywoning ontvang nie 'n verslag nie.
Oueraande
Twee ouersvergaderings per jaar. Ons volg 'n oop-deur-beleid.
Siekte
Kinders met aansteeklike siektes moet tuis bly tot die aansteeklike periode verby is.
Verjaardae
Verjaardae is 'n groot geleentheid by Bambino! Ouers kan 'n partytjie reël en is welkom om by te woon. Ons versoek dat partytjies na 14:00 gehou word.
Speelgoed
Geen speelgoed mag skool toe kom nie — dit sal gekonfiskeer en nie terugbesorg word nie.
Medikasie
Alle medikasie moet vergesel word van 'n brief wat die volgende besonderhede bevat: die kind se naam en van, die naam van die medikasie, die voorgeskrewe dosis/hoeveelheid, die tyd(e) waarop die medikasie toegedien moet word, asook die ouer of voog se handtekening ter magtiging van die toediening daarvan.
Haarbesmettig
Hare word elke Maandag nagegaan. Indien besmetting gevind word, sal u onmiddellik in kennis gestel word om u kind te kom haal.
